Notre Dame hoping to end 22 years of Big Bowl futility

The year was 1994.

“Forrest Gump” was the hit movie, Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan had an ice skating “disagreement” before the Olympic Games in Lillehammer, and O.J. Simpson captured the world’s attention during a low-speed chase with police on a California freeway in that now infamous white Ford Bronco.

Seems like a long time ago, doesn’t it?

The Notre Dame football program sure thinks so, because 1994 is also the last time the Irish claimed a victory in a top-tier bowl game with a 24-21 win over Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl.
