The Notre Dame Fighting Irish finished out their series against the Wisconsin Badgers Saturday in South Bend. Notre Dame caught fire in the second period, but young talent in the Wisconsin crease locked in a 7-4 win and the sweep for the visitors in the end.
First Period
Wisconsin forward William Whitelaw put the Badgers on the board a little more than five minutes into the first. Shortly after the period reached its halfway point, Wisconsin’s Mathieu De St. Phalle gave the pace of the night a jolt. He doubled the score for the Badgers and found the back of the net again on the power play following an interference call on Notre Dame’s Patrick Moynihan.
