The Notre Dame Fighting Irish hockey team announced their captains for the upcoming 2018-19 season today. Junior defenseman Andrew Peeke was named captain for the upcoming season.
Peeke, who was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team last year, scored 14 points while playing in 39 games for the Irish. He also played for Team USA at the IIHF World Junior Championship. He was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. Peeke is the first junior to serve as captain since Cal Petersen in 2016-17.
The Irish also named Jack Jenkins, Dylan Malmquist, Bobby Nardella, and Cal Burke as alternate captains for the upcoming season.
