Notre Dame Football vs. Texas A&M Reflections

A few thoughts on Notre Dame’s season-opening win in College Station:

1. Some back-patting is in order after third-year head coach Marcus Freeman took his Notre Dame team, including a much-scrutinized offensive line with six combined career starts, into hostile territory and walked out with a win over a talented SEC opponent. But let’s keep in mind that the win over A&M will most likely end up being empty calories by season’s end.

The prime example of an empty calories win is last year’s Notre Dame victory over USC. Sure, making eventual No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick Caleb Williams look as bad as he did that night is an evergreen source of schadenfreude for Notre Dame fans.
