The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were in hot pursuit of Tulsa cornerback Akayleb Evans from what seemed like the moment he entered the Transfer Portal. In the end, Evans committed to the Missouri Tigers instead.
Evans had a top five of Notre Dame, Missouri, Texas Longhorns, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Deion Sanders’ Jackson State. The Georgia Bulldogs came in late with an offer as well, but Evan never visited Athens.
What seems to be pretty clear, is that Missouri’s cornerbacks coach — who was the man that recruited the 2-Star prospect to Tulsa to begin with — held the bigger pull here for Evans.
