I think it’s safe to say all of us were somewhat concerned heading into last weekend. The typical problems that come with playing Navy coupled with their impressive run game and Notre Dame’s struggles from weeks prior pointed to a long and frustrating Saturday on paper.
Thankfully, the offense and defense played arguably their most complete game together and ended the game before Navy got a chance to annoy us with a 12 minute scoring drive. Ian Book made plays with his arm and legs that we’ve been waiting for all season, and a Julian Okwara-less defense stuffed Navy’s run game, holding them to 100 yards below their season average.
