There was a lot of pearl-clutching during the first three games of the season about Julian Okwara’s production at defensive end — or lack there of. Okwara was pegged to be the best player on this Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team, and he barely had a tackle to his name. Daelin Hayes, however, was excelling in his role as the other Shark end.
Hayes was probably the defensive MVP for the Irish up to the Virginia game, and was on track to have a stellar senior year. Daelin was the proof of everyone’s opinion about the immense depth at defensive end for the Irish in 2019.
