On Monday, Brian Kelly said he hadn’t closed the door on running back Deon McIntosh’s return to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team.
On Tuesday, the running back took the initiative to close it himself.
McIntosh, a near 5-foot-11, 183 pound back, is headed to Scooba to join the East Mississippi Community College Lions.
The program is familiar to anyone whose watched the first two seasons of Netflix’s “Last Chance U,” which shadowed the Lions and their legendary-coach-with-a-trigger-quick-temper, Buddy Stephens. The football team has won four National Junior College Athletic Association under Stephens, who has built his program around Division I athletes who have fallen from grace.
