2014 was the first year that the NCAA instituted the College Football Playoff committee to select who they deemed to be the top four teams in the nation to compete for the national championship. While this way of determining the best team in the land is better than having computers spit out just two teams, we are already seeing why even the new system is still not good enough. Nowhere is this more apparent than when discussing Notre Dame as it is clear that the Fighting Irish are getting the “short end of the stick.” Here are some of the teams that rank ahead of Brian Kelly‘s squad and why they should not be given such lofty status:
