The Notre Dame Fighting Irish went into their game against the Marquette Golden Eagles in Milwaukee as almost a 21 point underdog. So, I suppose there’s some comfort in beating the the spread — but that’s little comfort for most fans as the game itself was very tough to watch.
Notre Dame went down 17-0 to start the game and only scored its first points a little over 7 minutes into the game (a jumper from Markus Burton). The hot start by Marquette was largely due to an incredible amount of defensive pressure on the Irish that forced bad shots as well as a number of turnovers.
