Notre Dame Bans Texas Mascot ‘Bevo’ From Season Opener

For some, it may not be a big deal. But don’t tell that to the people from the state of Texas who support the Longhorns. As it turns out, one of the biggest traditions associated with UT football will not be a part of the traveling party for the season opener at Notre Dame.

A tweet from the school’s live mascot, Bevo, broke the bad news:

Notre Dame has a no live mascot policy at their stadium – so I won't be making the trip, but I'll be there in spirit. #BeatND #HookEm

I feel a little better knowing that it isn’t just picking on Texas, and Notre Dame isn’t the only school to have such a policy (Arkansas and Vanderbilt are two schools that have drawn attention for banning Georgia’s mascot in recent years).
