Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Malik Zaire had a great game in the team’s season opener against Texas, and took to Instagram to dedicate the team’s 38-3 victory to teammate Tarean Folston, who tore his MCL in the game and was ruled out for the season.
Though Zaire carried the team by completing 19 of 22 passes for 313 yards and three touchdowns, Folston managed just 19 yards on three carries, all in the first quarter. Given how thin Notre Dame’s rushing attack is now, what with Folston’s injury and Greg Bryant not coming back to the program after being declared academically ineligible earlier this summer, it’s looking like Zaire will need to put the team on his back if Notre Dame is to indeed contend for a national championship.
