As it was reported earlier this summer, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will wear a helmet decal that says "ARA" in place of their traditional, "Irish."
This is to honor former Irish football head coach, Ara Parseghian. Ara passed away this summer at the age of 94 after complications from a hip surgery.
Coach Parseghian will always be remembered as one of the greatest coaches in Notre Dame Football history. He won National Titles for Notre Dame in 1966 and 1974.
The only other time I can remember Notre Dame honoring someone in this fashion, was back in the 90's when the "IRISH" decal was replaced with "MOOSE" for Moose Krause.
