The Fighting Irish suffered their 3rd major injury of the season when they lost starting Quarterback Malik Zaire.
Prior to his injury, Malik Zaire was playing extremely well although was slowed against Virginia. Against Texas, Zaire completed 19 of 22 passes for 313 yards with 3 touchdowns. This Saturday, the Archbishop Alter graduate threw for 115 yards on 7 of 18 passing. Zaire added 87 yards on the ground.
Notre Dame fans may question Brian Kelly’s decision to run Malik Zaire. However, coaches do not plan on their players being injured. In addition, Zaire is a big Quarterback who is used to running the ball from the position.
