Irish in the MLB: Notre Dame baseball in the playoffs

It’s been almost a decade since an Irish alum hoisted the Commissioner’s Trophy at the end of the MLB season, when Brad Lidge did it with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008. But with three old ND baseball players in the postseason this year, the odds of that streak finally falling are the best they’ve been in quite some time.

Notre Dame hasn’t had this many players in the playoffs since 2011, Let’s take a look at who’s in the postseason and what their chances are of making the World Series.

Trey Mancini, Baltimore Orioles

Mancini arrived in Baltimore only a few weeks ago as part of September call-ups and wasted no time making his mark on the big leagues, blasting three home runs in his first three career starts, the first Oriole ever to do that.
