Canelo Alvarez made sure there was no controversy Saturday night, defeating Gennadiy Golovkin by unanimous decision to retain his undisputed super middleweight championship Saturday night in Las Vegas.
All three judges scored the bout for Alvarez: 116-112, 115-113 and 115-113.
Saturday's bout was contested at 168 pounds and marked the third fight between the two rivals. The first two bouts were fought at 160 pounds. They fought to a draw in 2017, and Alvarez won a majority decision in 2018.
Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs) was coming off an upset loss to Dmitry Bivol in May when he challenged for a 175-pound title.
