The quarterback competition was every bit as good as advertised, and a benefit to both Everett Golson and Malik Zaire. The team got through the entire spring season with essentially no injuries. And it could be argued that Kelly’s sixth year on the job provides him with the deepest team Notre Dame has fielded since Lou Holtz left 19 years ago.
