Jack Swarbrick still isn’t offering many — if any — specifics, mainly because he may not even know where all of this posturing and litigation is headed.
But one thing is certain: the Notre Dame athletic director took a firm and first warning shot last week in what continues to be the most turbulent and pivotal period in the history of college athletics.
In an interview with USA Today, Swarbrick said that if a groundbreaking proposal ever reaches reality to have athletes considered employees by their respective schools, and paid accordingly, he would remove Notre Dame from the current model of NCAA Division I sports.
