And maybe Irish head coach Brian Kelly will finally stick it out with Malik Zaire.
With the starting quarterback job in hand for the 2015 season, maybe Zaire will play well enough to hold the job, stick around, and eventually join Tommy Rees as the only two Irish quarterbacks to exhaust their eligibility at Notre Dame since Kelly became coach here more than five full seasons ago.
It’s almost unbelievable that all the other scholarship signal-callers under Kelly — Dayne Crist (Kansas), Andrew Hendrix (Miami, Ohio), Gunner Kiel (Cincinnati) and Everett Golson (Florida State) — all transferred away before their eligibility expired.
