Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback DeShone Kizer has emerged as a force to be reckoned with in leading the Irish to a #4 ranking in the latest College Football Playoff rankings reveal. He's also emerging as a bit of a comedian.
When he committed to Notre Dame back in June 2013, it was over the phone to Irish head coach Brian Kelly. Kelly was taking a visit to the New England Patriots' practice facility when Kizer called, hanging out with Patriots star QB Tom Brady. With Notre Dame slated to play in Boston this week at Fenway Park, Kizer was asked about what he thought about having Brady on the other end of the line when he committed.
Kizer took that as an opportunity to take a jab at Brady and his alma mater, Michigan: "Why he would ever attend a school like Michigan?"
All jokes aside, Kizer has been a revelation for the Irish since taking over following Malik Zaire's season-ending injury. The sophomore QB has completed 66.2% of his passes for 2,042 yards, 16 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has also 338 yards and eight touchdowns on 96 official carries.
Kizer will lead Notre Dame into battle against Boston College at 7:30pm EST on Saturday. The game will be televised on NBC.
