The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are fending off the likes of the Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets for the pledge of five-star wide receiver (and #1 wideout in the class) Demetris Robertson. According to a source cited by 247Sports' Tom Loy, they may have already won out.
"Notre Dame is getting him," the source told Loy. As crazy as that sounds, there is no doubt in my mind." More on Notre Dame's recruitment of Robertson with four days to go until Signing Day, exclusively inside the Chat Sports Android and iPhone apps!
The unnamed source added that Robertson's visit to Notre Dame this week "couldn't have gone better," indicating that this weekend's trip to Georgia Tech and a still unconfirmed upcoming visit to Alabama won't play a factor in Robertson's overall decision-making process.
Robertson had told reporters that he planned to visit Tuscaloosa on Sunday and Monday, but it's still unclear if he made it or will make it before Signing Day. Robertson has said that he wants to postpone his decision until after Signing Day, with a tentative visit planned to Georgia next weekend.
However, if Loy's source is to be believed, it's in the realm of possibility that Robertson could change tact and sign on with Notre Dame sooner rather than later -- and by sooner, we mean National Signing Day.
Stay tuned.
