Class of 2017 four-star offensive tackle Joshua Lugg (Pittsburgh, PA) just completed his second visit to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and came away raving about it.
“Last trip was a Junior Day and there was a ton of recruits,” Lugg told 247sports. “It wasn’t nearly as personal and it was almost more of a business trip. This trip was about me and developing my relationship with the coaches, the players and just getting a better feel for everything. I spent almost the entire day with coach Scott Booker and then I met with head coach Brian Kelly at the end of the day. It was myself, my family, [four-star wide receiver target] Damian Alloway, the coaches and some of the players. [Offensive tackle] Mike McGlinchey spent most of the day with me as well. It was good talking to him and kind of finding out from a player how great Notre Dame is.”
The 6-6, 288-pounder is Notre Dame’s top target at offensive tackle in the class of 2017, and they're right in the mix to land Lugg.
“I’d say that Notre Dame, Tennessee, Pittsburgh and Wisconsin are up there for me. Those are all good schools and the coaching staffs that I have the best relationships with. No schools are eliminated or anything like that. That’s just a few schools that are standing out based on my relationships with the staffs at each one.
“I’m honestly not sure when I’ll make a decision. Once I finish up a few more trips, I’ll probably sit down with my coaching staff and talk to them about things. I honestly wouldn’t be where I am today without their help and I feel I owe it to them to really get their thoughts on everything and how we should handle things going forward. When I’m ready to commit, I’m done and that will be that. So, I just want to go through the process once and make a right decision from the start.”
Lugg is ranked No. 177 overall player in the country, and No. 27 offensive tackle.
