As if Notre Dame Fighting Irish fans weren't expecting this, the USC Trojans are talking about one thing in advance of the teams' battle in Southern Calfornia on Saturday - Irish QB Everett Golson's turnover problem.
"We need to be aware of the amount of tipped balls that he's had that's led to some turnovers," USC head coach Steve Sarkisian said, via Rahshaun Haylock of FOX Sports West. "We need to be aware of some of the fumbles but we also need to be aware of his playmaking ability.
Sarkisian was also quick to add, however, that Golson is "a very dangerous player" regardless of his 13 interceptions and 11 fumbles (7 lost) this season.
Although USC is going to attempt to goad Golson into turnovers any which way they can, they are wary of becoming too focused on trying to make the big play in lieu of basic defensive form.
"Some people might just try to go for the ball without thinking about wrapping up first," Trojans defensive end Leonard Williams said. "We just got to make sure we're mentally strong enough to go for the tackle before the ball but we're definitely going to try to get the ball out."
