The Fighting Irish got some excellent news this morning when Brian Kelly announced that sophomore DE Sheldon Day practiced all week and will be ready for Saturday's game against the Oklahoma Sooners. Day was recovering from an ankle sprain that kept him out against Michigan State.
Day played in all 13 games as a true freshman last season, racking up 23 tackles and two sacks. The 6'2, 290 lb lineman out of Indianapolis is a huge asset to the Fighting Irish defenses, and with so much attention focused on Stephon Tuitt and Lewis Nix, Day has free reign to wreak havoc in the backfield.
Day was a five-star recruit coming out of high school, and has played up to his reputation so far. He had Notre Dame's best defensive performance in their win over Purdue.
