One Notre Dame Fighting Irish player suspended during a recent academic probe has been cleared by the NCAA to return to action. According to Notre Dame director of football media relations Michael Bertsch, safety Eilar Hardy is now eligible to return to the field for the #10 Irish.
Per Kevin McGuire of NBC's College Football Talk, "Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly said in mid-October there was still some work to be done by Hardy before he can return to play a role on the football field, but allowing him to return to practices seemed like an optimistic direction to be heading with regard to his eligibility. Hardy is the only player out of the five suspended players to be eligible to play this season."
No word has been given as to whether or not Hardy will be given the go-ahead to play against Arizona State this weekend. If he does play, it is likely that his snaps will be limited as he gets back to game speed.
According to McGuire, he has not been added to the team's two-deep depth chart for the game.
