The Notre Dame Fighting Irish survived a close call against Virginia last weekend, but now look to continue their undefeated start against Georgia Tech. Here are three reasons why they'll do just that on Saturday:
3) Dominant defense
10 returning starters from last year's pedestrian defense, and both the scheme continuity and chip on their shoulders has shown this year. They rank 36th in the country in yards allowed per game, 29th in scoring defense, and most importantly against Georgia Tech, rank 24th in the country against the run, allowing just 93.5 yards per game. The Yellow Jackets have a great triple-option attack, but the Irish have proven to be stout against the run.
2) Improved receiving core
Corey Robinson, Chris Brown, and Amir Carlisle have yet to put together consistent seasons for the Irish, but their collective talent level is good enough to push them into the rarefied air of the elite units in college football. All three guys will make DeShone Kizer's life a lot easier in his first career start.
1) C.J. Prosise's breakout season
Prosise has been the beneficiary of a revamped Notre Dame running game, rushing for 253 yards and one touchdown on just 37 carries so far this season. Notre Dame's offense will have to rely more on him with Kizer taking over at the quarterback spot, and he's ready to take over.
