Timm Klose will miss City’s opening match of the season against Liverpool at Anfield.
The centre-back missed the pre-season match against Toulouse at the weekend with tightness in his hip, and hasn’t recovered in time for the Premier League curtain-raiser.
Christoph Zimmermann and Alex Tettey will also miss the game with slightly longer-term injuries.
At his pre-match press conference at Thursday lunchtime, Daniel Farke said he believes Klose should be fit for the home clash against Newcastle United.
“Timm should be back with us in team training next week,” said Farke. “Of course it is not ideal having only two fit centre-backs for Liverpool, and we are also without Alex Tettey as a defensive midfielder.
