Dwight Gayle should have had a hat-trick an hour earlier but the goal which sealed his treble was worth the wait as Newcastle United scored twice in injury-time to nick the most unlikely victory.
Rafa Benitez’s side were trailing 3-2 entering stoppage time only for two goals inside as many minutes from Yoan Gouffran and Gayle to spark jubilant scenes inside St James’ Park.
Gayle had given Newcastle a deserved lead inside the first half only for goals from Graham Dorrans, Cameron Jerome and Jacob Murphy to turn the game on its head.

Gayle responded to spark hope of a comeback before the late drama stole a memorable three points for Rafa Benitez’s men.
