It was a disrupted midweek round in the Premier League as the football season trudged on in the shadow of the rapidly-spreading Omicron Covid variant.

Outbreaks of Covid positives at a number of clubs led to Brentford vs Manchester United on Tuesday, Burnley vs Watford on Wednesday and Leicester City vs Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday being postponed.

But seven matches still went ahead and there was plenty of significance in the results at both ends of the table.
