Former Norwich City footballer Justin Fashanu has been inducted into the National Football Museum's Hall of Fame.
Fashanu was England’s first and only openly gay professional footballer. Today - Wednesday, February 19 - would have been his 59th birthday.
In his three years at Norwich, Fashanu scored 40 goals in 103 appearances, including a stunning goal against Liverpool in 1980 - later voted the BBC Goal of the Season.
Fashanu’s niece Amal Fashanu, herself a high-profile campaigner against homophobia in sport and founder of 'The Justin Campaign', will receive the award on his behalf at the museum in Manchester during LGBT History Month.
