Ireland's UEFA Nations League hopes took a heavy blow after a Frederick Jensen strike was enough for Finland to win all three points in the Group 4 clash in Helsinki.
It was a nip-and-tuck opening half at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium with both sides drawing blanks. Norwich City star Teemu Pukki went closest on two occasions but couldn't direct the ball on target.
The contest opened up in the second half, with the visitors looking to hit the Finns on the break, and Enda Stevens was inches away from netting but his looped strike hit the crossbar.
