Under-23s coach Alan Neilson praised the battling qualities of his Norwich City youngsters as they scored a 90th minute winner to beat Sunderland at the Academy of Light.
The Canaries had led three times in the match, through Tom Dickson-Peters, Abu Kamara and Tony Springett. However, on each occasion they were pegged back by a determined Sunderland side. So, therefore, the team showed great character to get a stoppage time winner as Lewis Gibbs sent a free kick into the penalty area for Jon Tomkinson to head home.
“It was a really, really good game not just football wise but because it was a little bit windy at Sunderland today and the lads really battled and scraped,” said Alan.
