The Wildcats kicked off the 2021 season with a four-game long road trip culminating in a matchup against No. 2 ranked North Carolina before returning to Evanston for their home opener. Though a 2-3 record may not be indicative of a successful start, several bright spots ,including an impressive comeback versus Kent State at Martin Stadium on September 5, showed there is definitely some hope left to be had before conference play ensues.
NU began the road trip in Ohio at Xavier University on August 22. A set piece delivered by sophomore Josie Aulicino found the head of junior Aurea Martin just 15 minutes before halftime for the ‘Cats’ first goal of the season, putting NU in the lead after the first 45.
