Despite scuffling for the first 37 minutes, Northwestern (4-0) turned it on when it counted for the second time in this young season, willing themselves past Florida (0-4) in overtime Sunday afternoon in Gainesville.
With three minutes to go, a bad loss for Northwestern looked like a foregone conclusion. The Gators, who led after every quarter, had carried a six-point advantage into the fourth, and thanks in large part to two huge threes from Nakkasoglu (56 percent on the year) the lead was up to 11 with three minutes to go.
But despite going just 1-of-3 from the line and not hitting a single three over their ensuing 11-0 run, an Abi Scheid three-point play was followed by midrange jumpers from Hamilton and Pulliam, all within a minute of game time, to tie the game at 70.
