Head coach Kate Drohan said Northwestern ace Danielle Williams was not sharp when she faced Oklahoma (52-3) two months ago in Norman. The freshman threw just 21 pitches and was pounded for six hits and six runs in her lone inning of work. The Wildcats lost 8-0, just two days after falling 7-0 to the same opponent.
If Northwestern (47-11) wants any chance of slaying Goliath, their steady southpaw will need to be on top of her game. The Wildcats travel to Norman for a best-of-three Super Regional this weekend against the top-ranked Sooners, with the winner booking a place in the Women’s College World Series.
