Ryan Lumsden’s weekend at Shinnecock Hills probably didn’t go as well as he wanted it to, but at least he can say tied 2014 U.S. Open champion Martin Kaymer and finished one stroke behind two-time champ Ernie Els.
Lumsden missed the cut at the U.S. Open this weekend, shooting an 82 on the par-70 course on Thursday before improving to card a 76 on Friday. The rising senior on the Northwestern men’s golf team qualified for the tournament as an amateur by winning a sectional qualified.
Lumsden started his round well enough on Thursday, shooting a four-over 39 on the front nine.
