Northwestern Wildcats Continue to Defy the Odds

The Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks may have Chicago’s heart, but just 14 miles up North Shore Drive in Evanston, the Northwestern Wildcats are the heartbeat to the city of approximately 75,000 people — mostly college students and former alumni. Northwestern’s campus holds one of the more iconic settings in the Big Ten, sitting off of Lake Michigan.

Since 2010, the Chicago Blackhawks have won the illustrious Stanley Cup Trophy three times, but you would have to look further if you want to find a more compelling story of defying the odds.

The purple pride in Evanston was rejuvenated in 1999 when Randy Walker took over as head coach.
