The cornerback, pegged by many as a sixth or seventh round pick, instead fell out of the draft entirely, but was quickly snapped up by the Dolphins. Only a matter of minutes after Mr. Irrelevant was announced, Northwestern’s top corner over the past two years came to terms with Miami.
Hartage, a former two-star recruit whose only other Division 1 offer came from Georgia Southern, will be the first Wildcat to join Miami since Rashad Lawrence, who was with the Dolphins for a couple of weeks in training camp before the 2017 season.
Though the Dolphins did not pick a cornerback in this year’s draft, it isn’t exactly a position of need for the team: they have nine cornerbacks currently on the roster, with plenty of skill among them.
