It was chilly and gray at Martin Stadium on Thursday afternoon, but Northwestern (10-4, 4-1 B1G) weathered the elements and a stiff Michigan defense to earn a 14-11 victory. It was their first of the year over a current top-ten team. Selena Lasota paced the sixth-ranked Wildcats with four goals, Mallory Weisse had 11 saves, and Northwestern surged down the stretch to take down the Wolverines (14-2, 4-2).
The game started relatively quickly. A quick 3-0 run for the Wildcats gave them an early 3-1 lead, though Michigan fought back to tie it at three just over eight minutes in.
