For the first time since March 2017, Northwestern will play a basketball game at Welsh-Ryan Arena. The $110 million renovation that forced the team to play its 2017-2018 season at Allstate Arena is complete, and the exhibition against McKendree — a Division II program — is the first time the public will have access to the new arena, and it’s a sell-out. We’ll have a bunch of photos from the media tour before the exhibition.
The game doesn’t count, but this isn’t about the game, it’s about the re-opening of Welsh-Ryan.
For students who haven’t been to Welsh-Ryan (which is half of NU’s undergrads), the Arena is located immediately north of Ryan Field.
