A small plane carrying Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife Amy ran off the runway and caught fire at the Elizabethton Municipal Airport in Tennessee on Thursday, Elizabethton fire chief Barry Carrier told reporters.
No one was killed in the crash, Carrier said. Earnhardt Jr. was transported to a hospital, said the Carter County Sheriff's Office, which did not know the semi-retired NASCAR driver's condition.
