For Iowa State's Willie Miklus, a senior night victory. Cody Goodwin, cgoodwin2@dmreg.com
Willie Miklus has assembled quite a wrestling career in his lifetime.
He was a four-time Iowa state finalist and a two-time champion. He opted for a year at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs before chasing his Division I dreams at Missouri, where he became a three-time All-American. He’s injected life and experience into a young Iowa State team after transferring to Ames in the offseason.
On Saturday, inside the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Miklus notched his 100th career college victory. The senior actually went 3-0 to reach the finals of the Big 12 Conference Championships at 197 pounds, and his 6-0 decision over Fresno State’s Josh Hokit in the semifinals put him at the century mark.
