So Carver-Hawkeye Arena without a crowd is really weird.
Like, really weird.
An announced crowd of 246 — really! — came to watch the top-ranked Iowa wrestling team wallop Nebraska last Friday night in Iowa City, and you can imagine the stark difference after the Hawkeyes had 10,000+ for all seven home duals a year ago.
The usual buzz before and during duals was dampened. The noise just didn't exist. It was not unlike being at a high school football stadium on a Tuesday afternoon compared with a Friday night. The concession stands didn't even sell Carver cones.
