AMES, Ia. — What makes the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open — the annual kickoff competition hosted by the Iowa State wrestling program each year — so fun is that it serves as one of the first opportunities for any team and wrestler that attends.
In the case of the Iowa State and Northern Iowa wrestling teams, Sunday’s competition provided the first chance for some lineup battles to get settled, at least for the early portion of the 2019-20 season.
There weren’t many questions between the two programs, but there were enough that a handful of weights provided intrigue.
