The Northern Iowa wrestling team’s season-opener did not go as well as its in-state counterparts.
On a day when both Iowa and Iowa State won their respective home-openers, the 10th-ranked Panthers traveled to Northwestern to begin their 2019-20 dual campaign. Despite splitting the 10 contested bouts, Northern Iowa ultimately fell, 24-20, to begin 0-1.
The 13th-ranked Wildcats, now 1-1 overall, held slight edges in total match points, 54-50, and total takedowns, 15-10.
