Why Northern Iowa wrestling's Brody Teske is ready to take the next big step: 'It's time to do my thing'

CEDAR FALLS — Brody Teske strolls into a scrum of cameras on Thursday afternoon. It’s dreary outside, but Teske is all smiles. He and the rest of the Northern Iowa wrestling team are just 17 days away from their first competition of the season.

“Excited,” Teske said. “Full of excitement to compete.”

Teske, the Panthers’ 125-pounder, is rattling off everything he worked on this past offseason. He says “inches and ounces” intentionally because he focused primarily on the little things in the hopes that they will make a big difference.

In his mind, for example, he’s thinking about the number 17.
