What we learned from UNI's 38-29 loss to Western Illinois

CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — Primed to pull a nice conference upset on Homecoming, Northern Iowa couldn’t finish things off Saturday versus Western Illinois. The No. 18 Leathernecks scored with 6 seconds remaining to snatch a 38-29 win away from the Panthers at the UNI-Dome.

Here’s what we learned about UNI Saturday:

Pass defense struggles

Western Illinois entered Saturday’s matchup averaging a modest 271.5 passing yards per game, but the Leathernecks did what many of UNI’s opponents have done to the Panthers this season.
