CEDAR FALLS, Ia. — Tucked away in Iowa’s most northeastern corner, the city of Waukon fits the state’s small-town mold quite perfectly. Its population hovers around 4,000, forming a tight-knit community that keeps the support pumping even after its own move on.

There’s already a strong purple-and-gold tint to the city, it being the hometown of Northern Iowa football coach Mark Farley. But Waukon stakes claim to another Panther in the fold, one who’s navigated through college football’s landscape, going from former walk-on to breakout performer now looking to cement his mark in the UNI backfield.
