UNI's Karter Schult headed to Cleveland Browns as undrafted free agent

Former Northern Iowa defensive end and 2016 Buck Buchannan Award winner Karter Schult has a new home, signing Saturday as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns.

“The Browns are probably the ones who gave me the most contact (throughout the NFL Draft process),” Schult said. “I got a call this morning (from Cleveland) about what would potentially happen, in possibly the draft or afterward.

“So after the draft got over, there were multiple teams calling my agent. But we decided that the Browns were the best fit for me.”

Schult led all of Division I last season with 17 sacks and was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference defensive player of the year.
