The Northern Iowa wrestling team qualified seven wrestlers Sunday for this month’s NCAA Championships in St. Louis on their way to a second-place finish in the Mid-American Conference championships at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls.
Taylor Lujan earned the Panthers’ lone title at 174 pounds with a 12-2 major decision over Northern Illinois’ Trace Engelkes. Northern Iowa finished with 106.5 team points to edge out Central Michigan for third.
Dylan Peters (125 pounds), Max Thomsen (149), Bryce Steiert (165) and Drew Foster (184) all earned runner-up finishes and qualified for the NCAA Championships. Josh Alber (133 pounds) and Jacob Holschlag (197) each finished third to secure spots in St.
